Opportunity Class - (Year-5 & 6)
Genius Petals welcomes you to our OC – Year 5 & 6 tutoring program! The Opportunity Class Program (also known as OC Program) is designed for academically gifted and talented students in Years 5 and 6. The OC Program aims to cater to the educational needs of academically high-achieving students by providing a challenging and enriched learning environment.
- Students in the OC Program typically follow a curriculum that extends beyond the standard syllabus. This may include advanced topics in English, Mathematics, Science, and other subjects, as well as opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative projects.
- Eligibility criteria for the OC Program vary by region and educational authority. Generally, students are required to demonstrate exceptional academic performance and cognitive abilities to qualify for the program.
Course Content
Australian Students can prepare for their year 4 Opportunity Class (OC) exams online with Genius Petals Opportunity Classes. Opportunity classes are for high potential and gifted students in Year 5 and 6. Parents apply when students are in Year 4 for placement in Years 5 and 6. It is a 2-year program.
The Opportunity Class Placement Test has 3 test sections.
- Reading – 25 Questions – 30 Minutes
- Mathematical Reasoning – 35 Questions – 40 Minutes
- Thinking Skills – 30 Questions – 30 Minutes
Reading Skills in OC test
OC Placement Test Reading test is to assess students’ ability to think critically in verbal ability. Students are supposed to read a variety of texts and answer related questions on the Reading test.
In This section of the test assesses comprehension ability by having students read a passage and then answer questions that test their understanding of the passage.
Mathematical Reasoning in OC Test
Within the OC test, the Mathematical Reasoning section evaluates students’ critical thinking abilities in problem-solving with questions drawn from a variety of mathematical content areas.
The OC Mathematical Reasoning test requires students to apply their mathematical knowledge and skills to difficulties from a variety of math content fields.
Thinking Skills in the OC Test
In OC Placement Test’s Thinking Skills section is intended to assess students’ critical thinking abilities.
This section, students are supposed to identify patterns to solve visual, numerical, crosswords, and puzzles covering a wide range of topics on the Thinking Skills test.
